Wildlife

From upland to farmland, Monmouth has a good variety of nationally protected habbitats. Along with this, you can expect to see plenty of wildlife of all kinds.

Onsite we have a true sense of wildlife community with strong numbers of wild Deer roaming the fields and surrounding woodlands. We also attract important Red Listed species of Bird like the Spotted Flycatcher that requires Orchard like habbitats and plenty of old buildings to nest in. We have Kingfishers wintering on the Ponds and during Summer, Canada Geese, Moorhens and Mallards all actively use the ponds.  You can also expect to see Swallows, House Martins, Swifts, Spotted Flycatcher, Pied Flycatcher, Redstart, Wheatear, Stonechat, Linnet and Tree Pipits in Summer and all throughout the year, Barn Owls, Tawny Owl, Little Owl, Kestrel, Buzzard, Peregrine Falcon, Red Kite, House Sparrow, Starling, Blackbird, Mistle Thrush, Song Thrush, Robin, Reed Bunting, Yellowhammer, Pheasants, Carrion Crow, Raven, Great-spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker and much much more Bird life to be found.

If you enjoy your wildlife but perhaps can't explore as much as you would like to, don't worry! It's all on our doorstep.

If you like your insects, throughout Summer, we have plenty of species of Butterfly and on the Ponds you can watch the Large Emperor Dragonflies, Black-tailed Skimmers and Common Blue Damselflies all on the water.
